Here is a brief description of the tour

Private Tour - An unforgettable daytrip in the Chianti with amazing sceneries, fun facts about the Italian cooking habits, stops in the cities of San Gimignano, Monteriggioni and Siena and a visit to a winery to learn something about our Classico and drink lots of good wine!

Your day trip takes you through the picturesque countryside of the Chianti region, a magical landscape of cypress trees, vineyards and olive groves you’ll recognize from Renaissance paintings. We’ll come and pick you up @ your hotel and we’ll start by driving in the countrside of Florence and touch cities like Greve in Chianti and Panzano and Castellina. After about 1 hour drive we’ll make our first stop in the beautiful castle of Monteriggioni where you’ll have a half hour to walk around. Sitting on a small natural hillock, this completely walled medieval town in the Siena Province of Tuscany was built in the 13th century by the overlords of Siena to command the Cassia Road running through the Val d’Elsa and Val Staggia just to the west of Monteriggioni.

After driving for 15 minutes (Siena is just 8 miles from Monteriggioni) we arrive in the famous PALIO city at 12pm. Located in the heart of Tuscany, this is Italy´s best preserved medieval city and once was a wealthy, warlike independent state during the Middle Ages. Then Siena experienced a few hundred years of poverty after its final defeat by Florence. Since then, it has maintained its lovely medieval buildings and Gothic architecture, and today’s new constructions adapt to this character and beauty. The PALIO city is home to one of the oldest Universities in Europe, which adds for a vibrant student atmosphere and a bustling daily life, it offers many cultural events, concerts, cinema, theatre and a wide range of sporting activities. In the summer, there is the Jazz Festival, and the classical concert by the Accademia Musicale Chigiana. Siena stores offer many locally made items, such as, leather products, neckties, fabrics, glazed terracotta, gold jewellery, and of course local food, such as, Panforte, Ricciarelli, Pici and many wines. Every Wednesday morning a huge market is held around the Fortezza Mediceana. Here you will have time to look around

After another hour drive we’ll arrive to the city which is famous for its many towers or the many Vernaccia wine bottles if you prefer :) San Gimignano ‘delle belle Torri’ (of the beautilful towers) is just 56 km south of Florence. It served as an important relay point for pilgrims travelling to or from Rome on the Via Francigena. The patrician families who controlled the town built around 72 tower-houses (some as high as 50 m) as symbols of their wealth and power. Although only 14 have survived, San Gimignano has retained its feudal atmosphere and appearance. The town also has several masterpieces of 14th- and 15th-century Italian art. Tea with Mussolini, a 1999 drama about the plight of English and American expatriate women in Italy during World War II, was filmed in part at San Gimignano.

Finally: a taste of Chianti! Winery. You can spend a pleasant and beautiful time to relax, enjoying fine wines along with salami, prosciutto, cheese, olive oil... but mainly, you will live a unique experience and will be in contact with the Italians and with our simple, friendly and genuine way to behave with our guests, transmitting to all the people who come to visit, sympathy, warmth and smile, because the wine is love, poetry and imagination!
